Parenting after a Loss

Dinner out fail

DH and I had a gc to Olive Garden, so we took Z with us tonight out to eat. Z did great the first 20 minutes - once we got him out of the carseat. (I had hoped he would fall asleep in the car and then sleep through dinner - no such luck). He was grinning, giggling, just hamming it up and being a cutie.

Once we got our food, he started fussing. And lately when he fusses because he's tired, he fights going to sleep. In anticipation of a huge meltdown, we get boxes for our nearly uneaten food and pay the check. In the midst of getting everything to go, what does the little turkey do? He falls asleep without even fussing much at all.

If we hadn't already had our food in the boxes and bagged up, we could have just stayed and eaten!

  • That lil stinker! C is the opposite. He falls asleep EVERYTIME we are in the car but always manages to wake up exactly when our food arrives to the table! :) Hopefully Z will do better next time!
