Infertility

Baseline AFC vs. ER

Went in for my baseline u/s and b/w to (hopefully) finally begin stims for our first ER.  The tech said she didn't see any cysts (yay!) and she counted nine follicles in my single ovary.  I realize there's not an egg (or a mature egg) in each follicle, but I was very happy to hear the number nine!

So my question - if you've done ivf or a retrieval...what was your follicle count vs the number of eggs retrieved?  Obviously all retrieved may not fertilize or 'make it' but I'm interested to hear your numbers.

TIA and PPV that I'm able to finally cycle this month!!

TTC since May 2009 - DOR (ovarian cancer) DE w RBA December 2011 - transferred one embryo 12/14 - three frosties Beta #1 - 129 (12/22) Beta #2 - ? (12/26)

Re: Baseline AFC vs. ER

  • I had over 20 at afc, then 11 at ER.

My new RE thinks this should have been higher, and switched my protocol.

    GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 3 at baseline, 5 follies, 4 eggs.   cd 3 fsh that cycle was 5.

I hope you get more response to this. Very interested in what what others have to say.  My most recent cd3 AFC was 7, but my fsh went through the roof.   Really wondering what this mean for my upcoming IVF.

Trippbleb what was your fsh?  Mine was at 12.7 this am (cd3) and I thought that was high...but the nurse said all of my b/w was within normal range.

  • 26.  The previous month it was 9.   My previous high was 16 (taken about a year ago.) Not sure what happened when I got the 26.  I've read that it shouldn't fluctuated that much.  Hmm .   My LH was up as well at 10.  Usually it's very low.   I blame the high number on Melatonin.  I started taking it about two weeks before testing.   I just have no idea if my supplements are improving things or making thing worse.
