weight gain!

please tell me I'm not the only one.

This time last year I started a huge diet. I've never been "big' but I was heavier than I was happy with so I worked really hard and lost 15 lbs in about 4 or 5 mnths. I was able to maintain it to which is usually the hard part.

Then I get pregnant and find out today that I've already gained 9 lbs......9!!!

Now I'm afraid that because I know that my weight issues are going to come back

Re: weight gain!

  • I've gained almost the same and have no worries.  Everyone gains at different times/rates and as far as I'm concerned, as long as I eat somewhat healthy and maintain my activity level, the weight gain is ok - it's for a great cause!

  • according to my doctors scale i gained 9 pounds since my last appointment (though I was down 5 then) for a total of 4 pounds this pregnancy.  She was like, 9 pounds in a month - that is not good.  I really need to step up my cardio

  • I wouldn't worry too much about it. I'm always annoyed by having to weigh in at the doctor's office, it's not accurate at all. You are usually fully clothed, have already eaten and with it being winter, your clothes and shoes are heavier than normal.

?I weigh myself every morning, buck naked right after I go to the bathroom. It sounds?obsessive, but if the only feedback I got on my weight was from the doctor's office, I'd have a heart attack, too.

  • Check out this weight gain calculator - looks like you're right in the normal range or maybe even a bit on the low side for weight gain.

    https://www.baby2see.com/pregnancy_weight_calculator.html

It says that you should gain around 4lbs in the first trimester, and about a pound a week after that.  Since you're 5 weeks out of your first trimester, you should have gained 4+5 = 9lbs.

  • I am 18 weeks today and I am pretty sure I have gained about 15 lbs! I have an appointment today, so I will know then. I am about 5'5" and was 113 lbs pre-preg. I could eat anything in the world before and not gain a #, and now EVERYTHING is sticking! I am not worried about losing the weight after delivery, because I had no problem with my DS. 9 lbs is nothing. Don't worry.

  • agree with the ladies, you're totally fine!! I am now up 10.6 pounds (and nearly had a heart attack) but after extensive research, I realize we're totally fine!!!!

Think of it this way..we're almost half way there and you're supposed to gain between 25-35, so you're golden.

I don't even look at the scale at the doctor..I'm always in clothes and they're always at night after a day of eating.

I weigh myself every friday morning, naked, on the same scale before eating.

    :)

  • 9lbs doesn't sound so bad!

I've gained 12lbs so far, you'll wonder what I do (or eat) since I haven't even been able to get off Zofran!
I was underweight prepregnancy but I always says I never had weight issues. Now that I'm actually a normal BMI, I start to worry but it should be okay, right?

    Sigh.

I've started to track my intake on Babyfit.com. And definitely going to step up my workout too.
