If and when you ladies get your BFP, how long after you find out do you go to the doctor? Would because you have had a m/c, you go immediately or would you wait a few weeks just to be sure the test was right?
I am not asking for an particular reason, just a general wondering.
TIA
Re: Just a Question
DH and I have had this discussion- My OB left it up to us- she said she would be happy to do more intense monitoring or to see us on a traditional timing course.
I think that we will try to get in to see a HB as soon as it's reasonable to assume that we should see one- our missed miscarriage really hit us like a ton of bricks and I would rather know sooner rather than later. However, if it looks like thing are progressing normally we will stick with a standard course of appointments. I can't emotionally spend every day worried sick about losing another baby- I've been there twice and it's not good for my stress level to by hyper focused on it (which is obviously easier said than done).
As with any BFP, I would go to the doctor immediately for the confirmation appointment. The only thing that might be different is that they may schedule an earlier ultrasound (5-7weeks). For my first pregnancy, my first ultrasound was suppose to be at 10weeks. This is what my ob mentioned to me.

I am right there with you? I don't know if I should take it more easy, moniter more, or just see it as a normal pregnancy or what. As of right now, I think I want to moniter more and take it easy, but is that just me being paranoid and annoying to my doctor?..I have no idea.
I think because I will be sooo cautious if and when I do get my BFP, that I will do this. Hopefully the doc office won't take me as some crazy lady, cuz so far thats how I see myself acting lol
I've already been acting like a crazy person! During ym last pregnancy, it was so hard to get appointments scheduled with my OB since she's so busy, so *fingers crossed* next time around I will be demanding that I get in sooner. Anything to be less stressed!

My plan is to call as soon as I get a BFP for b/w. My OB doesn't typically see people until 8 weeks for the first appt but assured me that they would do everything they could to put my mind at ease considering my m/c history and age.

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
I would call as soon as I saw that second line for betas. Also I will likely be having an ultrasound as soon as my beta is 1000 because my last pregnancy was presumed(never confirmed)ectopic. My Dr. said I have a 25% chance of another if it truly was .....gulp.
ITS A BOY!!!! Born 11/13/11 BFP #4: 10/29/12 edd 7/11/12
My doctor told me to call him same day. His office is pretty busy but he said he would get me in. I guess it's because of everything that we've been thru because with my first pregnancy I had to wait a week to get an appointment.
My Ob said to call as soon as I have my first positive HPT to call and we'd start checking serial betas. I'm undecided about how I feel about this.
Typically, the odds for miscarriage don't increase until you've had 3 consecutive losses, though per my Ob there has been a push to start working women up after after 2 losses. Because I still have the same chance of having a normal pregnancy as I did the first time, I'm trying not to stress out too much about getting in early for ultrasounds and betas, because in the end I'm not sure it will make any difference. Doubling betas and happy early ultrasounds won't mean I'm in the clear. Granted once I see that second pink line I may think differently, but that's where I'm at now.

I'll call my doctors right away and they'll have me come in for a confirmation and initial visit. Doc said they don't do an u/s until ~10wks which I'm not thrilled with (my loss was at 5wks). I was hoping they'd do one sooner to confirm a heartbeat.

My OB said that we would do whatever I needed us to do to make me feel better once we get a second BFP. Due to spotting I had an early u/s for the first one, had my betas checked and wasclosely monitored. All the extra appt did was empty my wallet for the co-pays and give me false hope. At the end of the day, there wasn't anything she or I could do to change the outcome.
My plan is to have a 7 week u/s as long as I don't have any early signs of trouble. But as PP have stated, that may change when I get a BFP.
