  • WOW!

No way that it is completely different.  I can't wait to hear.  Maybe it's time for a third opinion?  Even if it's a phone consult from CCRM?

Or bring your info to your RE and see what he says???

  • Honestly, the one thing that stuck out to me was the 50-60% success rate.  I think given your DH's numbers, along with you being closer to 35, and the issues that you had in your last cycle-even for a good responder with good sperm and good fertilization rates, they only get between 50-60% (or am I wrong???).  Feel free to disagree Big Smile

They are a very much the opposites.  Can you get in with the Uro at Cornell?  I think so much of your success (and thus failure) depends on your DH.  Would it be beneficial to hear from a Uro what he would suggest?

I would have concerns that if in the last cycle the ones you would have chosen were ones that arrested by day 5, I would be concerned I wouldn't put the "best" ones back.   It may lead you to have frosties though.

Did you ask him about the SCSA?  Or PGD?

Neither clinic pushes SCSA,  both would consider after another failed cycle m/c.  Both only use PGD for recurrent mc.

Cornell thinks the sperm quailty is not as big of a factor and thinks the co cultures will improve the embies, as well as improving the eggs.

Basically they sperm quality theory, is just that...a theory, and they disagree.

Cornell is not a believer in the importance of 5dt, he told us that at the appt.  He said some embies will do better going back in the ute.

They rec-ed DH to one of their uros for a 2nd opinion.

  • Financially, you can swing having more than one cycle.  So do you try again with your current RE and see what happens and then move on to Cornell if it isn't a positive result?

Which RE did you have a better feeling for?

This is where things start to get difficult-I think of fertility treatments as "educated guessing".  They don't necessarily have anything that shows if you do "A" you'll get pregnant.  Or if you don't do "A" you won't get pregnant.

One of the things you could do, if you were interested in getting any more information-SIRM has message boards that their doctors all reply to posts.  You could ask for their input regarding the 3dt vs 5dt, or their thoughts on the cycles.  It was helpful to get a different RE's thoughts on what we were going through.

I'm sorry that this isn't cut and dry for you-I definitely think you should check with your RE about what Cornell suggested.  Could you ask for any data that backs up either what he feels or what Cornell feels?

  • We def "liked" the new RE better...but I dont need a BFF, just a baby LOL.

Ur right, we are in the "crap shoot" zone.  Both would be try and see approaches.

  • Is there a difference between success rates of one clinic versus the other?

  • They are pretty close for MFI.  Cornells is better for FET.
