Give me a mother effing break!

So, former EDD buddy/neighbor texted me. I haven't talked to her in a month and a half. 

 

She wants me to come to her baby shower. Yes, she did have her baby. They're having another shower now that everyone knows what the gender is.

 

I don't know what to feel or say. I don't think I'll go. I don't think I can.

    This, it's very clear from your post that you are not ready.  If she is truly a friend though, you mgiht find it in you to send or ship a gift in your absence.  I am sorry that you have been put in this awkward situation.

    They kept name/gender under lock and key until birth.

    I know she got a ton of stuff, new and used, so I don't get having another one.

    You're right to feel unsure about going to the baby shower.  Its a hard place to be in.

    If I were you, I would decline going to the shower and set up another time to see your friend if you want to reconnect with her.  If you haven't talked to her in a month and a half and you're still not interested in seeing her anytime soon then not going shouldn't change anything between you anyway.

    That is terrible!  I cannot believe how insensative people are, even those I didn't see being that way. I would not go and I don't think she needs another gift.

    How selfish for another shower, and texting you out of the blue no less.  I wouldn't go either.

    Because of the great "Snow"vember of 2015, my medicated cycle was cancelled.  However, we were blessed with our little rainbow baby due on 8/14/15!  Baby J had other plans and decided to make his grand ole entrance on 7/4/2015!

    Surprise!  Our little girl entered this world on 12/8/2016 after her eviction notice was long past due.  Our little turkey baby turned into a snow baby!

    Give me a break is right!  A lot of people frown upon having another shower for a second child, but another shower for the same child....too much!!  No way would I go.

    Um...yeah.  Who does that?  We know what gender the baby is now, so we want more stuff.  I say, if you didn't want to know the gender, there's no reason why everyone has to buy additional things for you.  Suck it up and dress your baby girl in overalls (which I think would be cute anyway).  No, I don't think you should go unless you wanted to.  Plus, who sends an invite to a baby shower via text msg? Classy.

    I wouldn't go if you think it will be too hard.  Send a gift if you want, but it sounds like this is a greedy add-on. Unless it's a meet the baby party, but that still doesn't mean you should have to plunge into a sad situation. a true friend should understand that.

    1. She should have more common sense than to invite you to a baby shower knowing your baby was due the same date as hers.

    2. This is a baby shower given AFTER the baby is born? I'm assuming there was already one before the baby was born.  What a freeloader!

    You def. don't have to go.

    I can't believe that she is having another shower b/c of knowing the gender so she can get more gifts!!  People who want to buy outfits and whatnot will do so, I don't think they need a party to come too. 

    I would opt out.  I opted out of a friend's shower (it was her 2nd child) b/c I just couldn't handle it.  I feel bad, but I can only handle so much.  I've never received a birth announcement or anything, only a mass text when the baby was born.  Oh well, no gift from me. 

    Don't feel bad - it was selfish of her to expect you to put on a smile and be there.
