Parenting after a Loss

Food for thought (pun intended)

For those of you who don't know I am a little granola crunchy.  DH and I live a very natural lifestyle eating, exercise and medically for the most part. I believe in a lot of things that most people poke fun of but I don't really give a shi^t.  For LO we opted for a balance approach which is why we are giving her vaccines and things like tyelnol when needed although I am not in love with the idea the alternative is worse in my eyes.

That being said- I have a dr who is an alternative dr practicing chiro, energy medicine, among many other alt care practices. She has 2 children who she has really raised aligned with her beliefs.  I decided to ask she about LO's pooping situation.  She asked me what I was feeding her- so I told her pears, avocado, sweet potato, prunes, squash.  She said that LO's do not have the digestive enzymes to break down vegetables until about 9mts and I should try giving her only fruit and see if that makes a difference.

 Interesting...WDYT?

My pedi said the new recs are to go from cereal to meat and do fruit and veggies later. I believe this is for iron but I wonder if there is more to it. Every baby is different though, b/c every baby who gets veggies at 4/5 months doesn't get constipated.

That is interesting too.   My pedi did not suggest that at all.

Obviously not EVERY baby gets constipated- and she said that not every baby has this problem but more of a general rule.

  • The only thing you've given her that is a real veggie is sweet potatoe. All the others have seeds and are thus fruits. Kinda blows that theory out of the water, hug? Perhaps she should have paid more attention in botany.
