I'm pretty sure I had a ghost in my house today

and I am pretty sure it was my brother.

Three things happened:

1. My tv in my basement turned itself on twice (and it was extremely loud)

2. I was half napping on the couch while DD was upstairs sleeping in her crib and DS was at pre-k. I could hear distinct footsteps walking all throughout my house, up the stairs, down the stairs, right past me etc. They were so loud and I had this strong feeling that someone was in the house and that surely my brother Colin must have come over/let himself in. (This is why maybe I think it was my deceased brother Kyle, because I felt so strongly it was Colin-just thinking "my brother".)

3. As soon as that all happened I went and got DD and went out to the van and it is sitting there parked in the driveway with the 4-way hazard lights blinking. There is no button on my remote starter that does that AND they just shut themselves off as I was buckling DD into her seat wothout me pushing any buttons.

The feeling that it was more than just a coincidence is very strong and this is not the first time something has happened that makes me think Kyle. A day in November when everyone was gathering in our house for my brother Colin's birthday (which is 2 days before Kyle's death,) the only Leapfrog letter magnets on the large part of the fridge where K-Y-L & E (but they were no spelled out-jumbled but the only letters.) Also when my mom and my BFF where in town for DD's first birthday they BOTH said they were kept up by the sound of footsteps all over the house.

  • How did you stay so calm? I would have freaked the hell out! Sorry to hear about your brother :(

  • IDK, if it IS my brother I am not scared of him and I want him to visit LOL! I was definitely feeling jitterey and like "whoooaaa" but I did not feel scared!!

The coolest part for me is that my brother spent his life a wheelchair but I heard FOOTSTEPS!! It makes me happy I guess.

  • If you felt.. familiar and comfortable with it there, then I'd go with it. ?My dad was around the house for a while after he died. ?So weird. ?I could practically feel his breath & heat from behind me, but I'd turn & nobody would be there. ?I talked to him a little, and he faded out bit by bit as we figured out life without him.

I live in a 126 year old house and we had a ghost here for a while. ?Saw it, heard it. ?DH heard it. ?Nothing creepy or anything, we were both ok sharing the house with it. ?But I talked to it one night & told it we were going to take care of the house and try to restore it, etc. ?Few weeks later, the feeling of something being here was gone, and nothing since. ?

The same thing happened to me with my mom. Very calming actually. And just like Kori, she faded as we figured out life without her. I never thought I would be able to function well without her!

How long has your brother been gone? Did you talk to him when it was all going on?

I didn't. Well not really. The tv thing happened first and at the time I just thought it was weird. During the footsteps I was kind of in this meditative state where I was "asleep" but fully awake if that makes any sense? I just kept telling myself "I have to wake up because my brother is here, I can hear him." And I could hear him walking around (loudly) I also remember asking myself if it was just the dog but I checked and she was laying next to me. When I went out to the blinking lights on the van was when I lost that sense of peace and calm and the rush of *holy shlt* washed over me.

There are some really unfortunate and horribly sad things surrounding his death pertaining to my father. I was just talking about it (and crying about) with my BFF this weekend. Part of me wonders if he is trying to tell me something about the situration or perhaps comfort me about it? IDK but I can't deny that gut feeling I had, I have really never felt like it before.

  • I hope this can bring you some peace. Perhaps he is seeking peace, too. (hugs).
  • do you get a 'message' feeling?
