I had a bridal shower at Cafe Bizou in Sherman Oaks.
Viva La pasta in Simi Valley has a nice outdoor area, as well.

I threw my friends shower at The Alcove Cafe and Bakery. It was fantastic - priced just right. We were in the "Alcove's alcove," a private room behind the restaurant. I ordered the blue velvet cake for the party (she had a boy) and it was delicious.

Re: baby shower venues
I went to a baby shower a few years ago at The T Room. It was very cute and girly. If you're having a girl this is a great venue. Very memorable.
