Revisiting NICU

Just wondering how many of you stay in contact with your NICU?  I promised I would visit often and send pictures but feel like I am really failing.  Also wondering if anyone started a support group with their NICU for moms going through the experience.  It is something I would really like to do but I am not sure how to get started.

I'm friends with the parent hosts on FB along with a few nurses.  Because DD has appts. at the hospital thru out the year I usually stop by to visit then.  Our NICU also holds a reunion every year, which was really nice since when we visit we often miss our favorite nurses.  I send them a Christmas card every year too.

I haven't been back to our NICU since we "graduated" but think about it all the time. I actually have a box of preemie and small newborn clothes I wanted to take to them but haven't. I think it's a little bitter sweet to me and I'm not sure I could handle going back there... Although sending a xmas card with pics would be a good idea like PP mentioned.

I'm still a NICU mom, not sure that i will visit since it is so far..maybe on anniversary dates like around her birthday or during the holidays since we spend Thanksgiving, Christmas and NYs there..we may drop off some goodies but I have already become friends with my DD's primary nurse and we have each other's cell numbers and already talk and text outside of the NICU.  I don't do facebook but I plan to get contact information for a few nurses and secretaries we became friends with.

I was JUST going to post this!!  DS' 1st birthday is tomorrow, he has follow up appointments on both 2/2 and 2/8.  We were discharged 2/5/10.  So, his graduation anniversary falls between both of those appt dates.  Since that's so much driving, we'll just bring a cake on the 2nd or the 8th.  MIL, FIL, my mom and dad will all be coming with DH, DS and me.  

I can't wait to see the doctors!!

Yes, we keep in touch with the NICU nurses and doctors.  We've gone back to visit about 3 times and we send pictures on occassion as well.  We are so grateful for all of their hard work!
