EBM schedule

DD drinks only half of what I pump, however I still pump about every 4 hours at work and at home, including at night, so that I can store enough for her to drimk while I'm at work.  I'm afraid that my supply would decrease if I don't continue.  However I'm losing a lot of sleep at night.  If I cut the night pumps out, will my body still know to produce enough milk for her to drink?

Re: EBM schedule

  • I would think yes.  DD is getting close to STTN and I haven't had any supply problems.  As long as you still pump when she eats you'll be fine.

  • I think you'll be fine.  DD sleeps more than 4 hours at night and my supply has been great.

  • My supply is still amazing and my schedule is 6am bf and pump, 9 DD gets bottle with EBM, 12 bf pump at work bf on weekends, 3 DD gets bottle of EBM, 6 bf, 10 pump before bed. I do the 10 pumping so I am comfortable at bed. I just recently starting giving bottles the two day feedings on the weekend because I was having trouble pumping at work and wanted to go to 1 pump at work.

  • You should be fine to cut out the night pumpings.  However, when you first start to go through the night without pumping, you will be really full when you wake up.  Are you going to pump at work?  If so, your supply will only be for backup.  You will pump at work what you need for the next day.  It sounds like you are currently pumping a lot of extra BM, so I wouldn't worry about missing 1 or 2 overnight.
