finding a nanny

i'm thinking a nanny service is a good place to start but i don't even know where to start with that - there are a million out there. i'm in LA, CA if anyone has suggestions?

We used an agency in our area (san diego).  I would just start interviewing a couple of them now.  Have a list of questions ready, and ask the same ones to each candidate.

Just start looking online.  We found our nanny through a placement agency after searching the internet and white pages.  The owner came out to our house and had the contract ready to show us with everything worked out.  It made it really painless since she had already done the background checks, references and fingerprint screening (we still called the references ourselves though).
