so yesterday when my DH was out skiing i was hanging out with my mom- we were talking about fwp week and how its always a disaster bc his brain takes over etc. she asked me if he was gay and she was serious! wtf?!?! um no he's not gay- he has no trouble any other time of the month aside from fwp week and while he had trouble from time to time before TTC it was always if he drank too much---- grrr...gracie better not turn up to tell me ive turned him gay!

    I shouldn't laugh, but I just have to.  How bizarre of *your own mother to throw out the gay card!  I'm sorry she was a douche though. 

    ETA:  I obviously can't read...fixed his mother to your mother.

    I really hope she was joking about the gay remark!!

    Same here. My mom gets Glamour for free so she gives it to me. Last month she crossed out the "10 Tips You are Great in Bed" and wrote Ewwww next to it! haha

    This!  I don't like to talk about that stuff with my mom or anyone really other than here because it puts too much pressurwe on me that I don't want.  Maybe DH just feels a little pressure if the week of fwp is too hyped up.  I don't even tell my DH I just do it and tell him after lol.

    That's great that you can talk so openly with your mom but responses like that certainly don't help.  I'm sorry that she said that!

    My DH had some problems this week too for the first time ever (this was our first FWP week since past cycles were just plain old "not preventing" cycles).  The FWP week can mess with their minds.

    November 2010 - 10.5 week loss  o:)

    July 2014 - Stillborn DD (24 weeks)  o:)

    April 2018 - 5 week loss o:)

    Wow. Thats a stretch to go from a little performance anxiety to all out gay. LOL.

    MH and I didn't have sex before we got married. He had had sex before, but I was waiting. We got engaged after being together for 4 years and lived together for 2 1/2 of that. She asked me numerous times if he was gay and her best friend bought me the book "He's just not that into you" about 6 months before we got engaged.

    Wow, if my Mother ever said anything like that, I don't know how I'd even respond.

    This! *hugs*  I'm sorry, Biddy.  Those kind of remarks from family really suck.  I got those a lot when my husband decided he wanted to go to cosmetology school.

    Wow!!  I can't imagine my mom ever saying that!!  She knows we are TTC and having issues, but she and my dad had issues.  I guess I don't feel comfortable telling her the nitty, gritty details either. 

    Plus, I don't think my mom would even notice if DH was gay - which he's not.  In fact, the joke in DH's family is that he is the "gay son" - since he likes theater and whatnot and his brother is just sports freak.  DH loves sports too, in fact as much as his brother, but he likes other things and his brother does not. 

    Anyway, I can't believe your mom said that - your poor DH.

    I'm sorry your mom said that. I think performance issues in men is one of those taboo things that is much more common than people think. Telling you that it means your DH is gay doesn't help anything. Big ((HUGS)) I know how frustrating those issues can be. Hopefully your mom can listen when you tell her it has nothing to do with DH's sexual orientation.

    I have a close relationship with my mother, but this proves why I would never discuss "performance issues" with her. My mother could totally say something like that thinking she was making me feel better. Maybe that's what your mom was trying to do for you. I would keep DH out of the loop and maybe his anxiety will subside. Good luck!

    Wow - not cool.  So sorry you have to deal with that!  I think so many people push the responsibility and emotional side of TTC onto women, it's hard for a lot of people to wrap their mind around that fact that guys go through a lot of crap with TTC and loss too.  Doesn't mean he likes dudes - geez.
