Possible pregnancy announcements from friends?

So DH and I are having a 30th birthday party tonight for our best friend.

Our friend J just called and said our friend N called him and said to pick up cigars because N has something to celebrate.

J knows of our TTC issues. N does not, but he does know that we have been trying since at least the spring. J goes "your wife isn't pregnant right?" And N goes "oh no. nothing that big."

He better not be lying (we think its a job promotion). I will flip the F out if someone announces that at my house. Plus I never understand why people announce something big at another person's party.

    Very strange! We did announce at a cook-out in MH's hometown, the only people who knew we were going to make the announcement was the couple hosting it (he was our bestman), they got us a "Baby B" cake that they brought it out after the announcement. There was one couple attending that I knew were having fertility issues (everyone else was done having children) and as soon as they showed up I pulled her aside to give her a heads up. I wouldn't want to put anyone in such an awkward position. My fingers are crossed that this isn't a Pregnancy Announcement!

    Update: It was not a pregnancy announcement thankfully. DH pulled his friend aside as soon as they got here and asked him.

    I then made a point later in the night to straight out tell them we were having TTC issues so hopefully that gets that gets the point across for when it does come time for them to announce (whenever they are pregnant). Because let's be honest I'm sure it'll happen on the first try for them and they are the kind of people that would announce it at my house when I'm having a party.
