MIL Vent (long and pointless)

My MIL, although one of the nicest people on earth, has a way of driving me crazy faster than any other human being.   I'm afraid when DH and I finally have a child together it will get even worse.

Here is an example.  We had my step daughters birthday party at our house last night and my MIL asks if she can feed our cat.  I usually feed her in the morning and late at night, but I really don't care if my MIL wants to give her some food.  Then she proceeds to ask me where the cats water bowl is, and I tell her that it's in the dishwasher.  She says to me, " well she needs some water, but thats not my job."   For goodness sakes, my cat wasn't going to dehydrate in the hour that the water bowl is getting washed!    

She brought up the cat not having water out several more times, I just ignored her and when the dishwasher was done running  I quietly got her water dish out and gave the cat her water.  

Is it silly of me to be insulted that she doesn't think I can even take care of a cat?!

My MIL is the same way. We have 2 nieces and I swear she thinks she is the only one qualified to take care of them. It drives my SIL nuts too. My SIL is an elementary school teacher and I'm a healthcare professional, so it cracks me up that the church secretary thinks she is the most qualified at raising children.
