TTC After a Loss

The frustration never ends...

Ok, I'm sorry to complain three days in a row but seriously!!!  I got a call from my nurse today (who is on vacation) saying that the lab called her to tell her that there has been a mixup in my bloodwork.  Apparently the 5 vials of blood they drew for my chromosome analysis got mixed up and they are not able to use them.  Apparently my initials were on the blood but someone elses initials were on the paperwork or something like that.  She isn't really sure as she's on vacation but was just relaying the message.  So what this means is that I get to go in and get all that blood redrawn AND wait another 2-3 weeks for results now.  I am beyond frustrated.  It just seems like one thing after another.  I'm trying to relax and let things be but when crap like this happens - makes it really really hard.

  • Ugh that sucks!!! :(  I'm sorry you have to go through that and add yet another pain to this process.

I used to work for a medical lab and I highly recommend that you demand to check your vials for appropriate labeling (full name, date of birth) and maybe the requisition too. Its a kind of a safe guard for you and it makes the phlebotomists a little more careful for others as well b/c they know someone is checking their work.

Good idea - I'm going to do that when I go back on Monday to have them redrawn.  My nurse suggested I talk to the supervisor in the lab as well to find out how this happened but really I dont know what good that'll do.  All that will happen is I'll get worked up and nothing will come out of it.  Ah....I'm just so beaten down.  I was actually excited to get some sort of result next week to find out what the heck is wrong with me and instead, now I have to wait another 2-3 weeks.

  • I am so sorry, that must be beyond frustrating!
  • so sorry you have to go thru another blood draw AND more wait!  the last set of bloodwork i had done i had to sign something saying they labeled all the tubes of blood appropriately with the right labels.  something similar must have happened to have them change their policy.
  • Oh wow!  I'd be really annoyed.  I'm sorry that happened!

  • When I had bloodwork drawn for RPL panel they put my name on all the vials of blood and I had to check all of them to make sure it was me. I am sorry they screwed up the bloodwork.

  • I'm so sorry *hugs*  I like the idea of looking over all the vials just to make sure they did it right.

  • Thanks ladies for all your kind words.  Sorry I kind of posted and ran.  Went and had a few drinks to take out my frustrations.  I just feel like everything keeps going wrong in this process rather than anything going right...I dont know at what point do you just give up.  It's just frustrating.  Hopefully this next time they get it right...
