Parenting after a Loss

best bottles for reducing gas??

DD has been really fussy the past few days.  I think it's gas, and I'm considering changing bottles.  We currently have First Years - Breast Flow and some Medela.  Any recommendations?

  • Babies are pretty gassy in general the first few months, but we loved our Born Free bottles. I've also heard good things about Dr. Brown's.

Is she formula fed? It could be that too.

Yes, she is formula fed (she was breastfed for the first 1.5 weeks--didn't work out).  I figured I would test out some new bottles, just to see if it makes a difference.  If not, we may look into different formulas.  Thanks for the recommendation :)

  • If you find a good one let me know!!

We have tried several, but the best ones we have found so far are the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles with the variable flow nipples (they are larger and don't collapse like the 1's/2's)

We tried Dr Browns and they were just ok, didn't notice a big difference with them, but I know a lot of people swear by them.

We FF feed and have been trying to gradually switch her to Soy to see if that helps with her gas as well.

  • Well, we loved our born free so definitely try them. But if new bottles don't help, look at a different formula. DS was VERY gassy on Simulac. We tried I think 3 or 4 different types before finally trying Baby's Only Organic and once we started that the gas stopped immediately. I'm not sure if it was the formula or he was just at the verge of outgrowing the gas, but it was instant relief. GL! These first few weeks are the hardest.

  • We have had good luck with dr browns and born free. I also cut out dairy and that made the biggest difference.
