I would like to breast feed but I'm active duty military so I am going to have to pump throughout the day. I've been looking at so many reviews on breast pumps and since this is my first child; I dont even know where to start.
I plan on breastfeeding and I'm most likely going to get the Madela Pump In Style. I've heard great things about it. Talk with your doctor about recommendations and also see if you can set up a meeting with a lactation consultant for recommendations.
Have you talked to your CoC about setting up a private place for you to pump other than the bathroom as well?

This is my first child too, but I was recommended Medela electric breast pump from a Full Time worker and Exclusive breastfeeding. They are on the bit of an expensive side $250, but she said it was so worth it. She said it was the best items she got. I got my from another friend and everything was sealed even the motor. The package was open and once you open the package it cannot be returned. She opened the box, but she couldn't breast feed so she gave me a heck of a deal on it. I wouldn't recommend a used breast pump considering all the risk, even with buying new tubing.

I'm planing to breastfeed but due to other medical problems, may not be able to produce enough milk. I'm planning to rent a pump from the hospital for the first month to see if it's even possible for me to get enough out for it to be worth the purchase of my own pump. If it is, I'll probably buy the PIS (mentioned above) or the less expensive Ameda Purely Yours (which is a closed system and that sounds better to me).

I also recommend the Medela Pump in Style Advanced; I used it for a year with my son (pumping 3 times a day at work) & never had a problem, I plan on using it again this time around.
I would also recommend checking with your insurance company; some of them will cover at least some of the cost of a breastpump.
I just found out that with my medical insurance, going through a medical equipment company called Edgepark, my pump (Medela Freestlye) will be $116.03 out of pocket!!!
It's worth making the call to see if your insurance covers part of the pump your are interested in!

**Plus, they told me my insurance (Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield) would only cover 50% - but RETAIL at BRU and BBB, is $379.99!!!! But, I'm only paying $116... so even if you don't have insurance, you should look into ordering from them!
I plan to breastfeed, but am going to wait on buying a pump in case it does not work out. Those things are expensive!
I am assuming you will not be returning to work the week after you have the baby so you should have enough time to figure out if breastfeeding is going to work for you before you buy a pump. In the meantime, consider renting one from your hospital.
Yup, I work full-time and plan to breastfeed. I suggst going over to the breastfeeding board for some additional advice. The ladies over there have a wealth of breastfeeding knowledge.
