Wrap length questions

What carries can be done with a 3.5/3.6m wrap? How about a 3.0m or so? I want to get some shorter wraps but not sure what size would be best. Would like to be able to do a short cross carry. I am 5'3" about 125-130 prepregnancy, size small or medium shirt. Thanks!

Re: Wrap length questions

  • With a 3.6 you could RTIF, half wrap cross carry, kangaroo, hip carries, dh tied at the shoulder, and short wrap cross carry. With a 3.0 you might be able to do the same things (especially with wraps with long tapers) but you could be guaranteed a rebozo and RUB.

  • So a probably a dumb question... You measure a wrap without including the tapers? I just got a vat in the mail yesterday that was sold as a 5.0m. I also have an ellaroo 4.6m but they are the same length if you include the vat tapers. Obviously I should measure both which I haven't done yet. I'm guessing at least one of the wraps was sold as an incorrect length.

You measure along one rail from end to end, so the tapers are included.

Wraps with long tapers (Vats, Zaras, Jades) tend to wrap "long" because if you were to measure from taper end to taper end (which is not the right way to measure a wrap!), you'd have more length.  So if you don't mind tying in the tapers, you can get away with a shorter wrap.  It also helps that those are thinner wraps which also tend to wrap long as they are easier to get the slack out of.

    Hope that makes sense!

  • When you measure a wrap with tapers you measure the full length of one rail.  So a 5m vat should be longer than a 4.6 ellaroo.  Sounds like you might have gotten a 4.5m vat or a 5.2 meter ellaroo.
