Re: Bedrest Mama's Daily Check-In ~ Friday ~

  • Good morning ladies!  Hospital food still stucks but keeping my spirits up.  Few contractions when they put me on the monitor (which I go on 3 x daily with 1 NST a day) but nothing I'm feeling.  First goal is 28 weeks according to the maternal fetal medicine specialist.  Should be meeting with the neonatologist today.  Trying to find my pattern in the day to get a groove going.

QOTD: I think we will be doing public school.  I'm a product of private education but DH is not and doesn't private schooling is any different.  We have good schools around us so we are lucky for that.

Good luck and good day to all of you out there!

  • Family hopes/ Sam,

I didn't see that when you originally posted that you were on hospital bedrest a few days ago. So, I just updated and added you to the hospital BR list. Sorry!

Yeah, I know that hospital food is the pits. I remember I used to order take-out as often as I could which I don't particularly like but it was a treat compare to the suspect beef stew and weird-tasting chicken salad there. To get to 28 weeks is not too far from where you are now... that's actually around the time when they felt it was safe enough to release me to home BR since my funneling and shortening had stabilized.

I hope you do establish that routine as it really makes the day run by. Keep us updated.

  • Hello all,

I hope everyone's day is off to a good start.

Question of the Day: Will your child(ren) be attending public, private or be home-schooled? Why?

I attended private school but in another country. So coming to the US, I had the impression that things were the same where the private school was the place to be if you wanted an excellent education and that the public schools were ones to be avoided. However, my H attended public school and I learned how different they are here compared to where I grew up. As a matter of fact, where we live now has some of the best public schools in the country (one of the reasons we moved where we are today).

As for home schooling, I don't have the patience or know-how to teach my kids in a structured day of varying subjects. And even if someone else home-schooled them, I would feel that they wouldn't get sufficient social exposure.

    So public school it is.

  • Hey girls!

I'm doing good. 36 weeks!!!! Can't believe I went from meeting with a nicu team at 2 in the morning and talks about delivering to making it nearly 10 weeks further!!!

My children will go to public school. As a military family I'm sure we will never have the funds for private school. My ds goes to a christian daycare now (well when I work) and I LOVE it. I would love to continue that type of enviroment but he'll get a lot of guidance from home in that area.

Good luck to everyone else this week! I pray for a very uneventul week!!

  • Hello! I'm going to be discharged in half an hour and I can't wait!

    QOTD:

If we're still living in Canada, it will be Catholic school. If we're living in Europe, it will depend on the school system in the country where we are. Probably private or Catholic.

  • Good news!  I just got a call from my doctor regarding yesterday's tests:  passed my 1-hour glucose test, I'm not anemic and a negative fetal fibronectin.  Looks like this baby is probably going to keep cooking for another week or two (and hopefully more)!

  • I'm loving all the good news updates! ::big hugs to the girls on hospital bedrest::

At my appointment this morning, my BP was 146/96! I actually asked the nurse if she was sure :) Swelling is worse, but headache wasn't as bad today and OB reminded me that things can change quickly at any time, but that the latest we would go is 38 weeks. I'm allowed to travel for my baby shower tomorrow as long as I'm seated the whole time and BP doesn't spike :) I'm SO SO SO excited and really happy that I'm back on the couch and not in L&D! Thanks for the T&P :)

    QOTD:

Our kids will go to public schools. DH and I both teach in charter school's, but LOVE the district that we bought our home in. If we had a ton of money, we might consider private schooling, but since we don't, we're happy with our decision to send our kids to public.

I agree too and hoping this good news trend continues on for a lot longer!

Brigid, 38 weeks is an excellent goal for delivery. And how awesome that you get to go to your shower! Do you have to get your BP measured at the shower? Either way, have a great time.

  • QOTD: Where we live, we have one of the worst education systems in the country...and ironically enough I'm a teacher here, haha. After what I have seen in the school district here, there is no way I would ever send my child through it. My husband went through it and he agrees with me. We plan on moving, but, if that doesn't happen then it's private school.

  • So excited about all the good news today!

Our kids will go to public school, at least through middle school. We bought our house last year when we were TTC and purposely moved across a county line to put ourselves in a great school district.  Our elementary school is only 2 blocks from our house!  Both DH and I went to public schools, and had hoped we'd be able to use public schools for our kids (plus, private schools in this area are super expensive and with twins, it would be really hard to make that work without a lot of other sacrifices).

Hi ladies...I'll be joining you!  I'm on strict br for now, at least untill the 19th.  Then if I'm lucky I'll get put on mod br at home.  I was on BR last year with my previous pregnancy....actually did the check-in's with Nat (FemmeFatale) last time!

QOTD:  We will be homeschooling Livy and this next baby.  If we decide to change our minds, it will be a private school.  We want to homeschool because we feel that kids are exposed to too much too young these days...young girls ending up pregnant, doing drugs, ect.  And our main reason is that our buisness keeps us super busy all summer, but we have a ton of free time during the winter.  We'd barely get to see our kids and would like to be able to travel and teach them hands-on!  We know a ton of people who homeschool and their kids are all well-adjusted and socially adept.  We also have a ton of family and with our buisness, Livy and new baby will be around people all the time!

  • Hey everyone! Hope your evening is relaxing and uneventful   =P

Question of the Day: Will your child(ren) be attending public, private or be home-schooled? Why? We'll be sending our LO to a private school. I attended a private school from preK-3 until I graduated high school, and DH attended public school. Florida is not known for its high-ranking public schools, that's for sure...especially in my podunk little town. No offense to my (lovely, country bumpkin, Southern) DH, but his grammar and general semantics are terrible, and when we were discussing schools and he said "I went to public school and turned out real good," it furthered my desire to send DD to private school...lol

Update:  Had an ultrasound follow up; DD looks great, cervix looks long, fluids are normal, with only occasional BH contractions...however, the bleeding, which had slowed down and turned brownish, was bright red and pink again, so bedrest orders are being continued...grrr. They still don't know the exact cause of the bleeding, but the thinking now is that a blood vessel keeps bursting. AND, we got a 3D ultrasound, and while normally I find those creepy, seeing her little face for the first time was incredible! She even stuck out her tongue a couple of times.

(---My new boredom-combat trick is Dave Chappelle's stand-up. DH brought me home the DVD...I haven't been able to stop laughing all day! Totally worth renting.)

  • Question of the Day: Will your child(ren) be attending public, private or be home-schooled? Why? Probably public, we both attended public schools and they are very good here, so I am comfortable with our girls going there :)

If you have any updates, upcoming appointments, or anything else to say, let us know!

I am loving the good news and adding to it :) We had a growth u/s and bpp today, Baby Elise is doing great and measuring 3lbs8oz!
And here's the insane part - my cervix measured 3.5cm!!! Of course that was just a transabdominal u/s and not the dildo cam so they aren't sure how accurate it is, but I am still so happy :)
    Here's our little one:

  • I agree that I'm loving the good news.  Your stories give me so much hope.  Thanks for adding me to the list!
