Would you switch preschools just to save money?

We like DD's current preschool. We didn't shop around when we decided to enroll her there. We have 2 friend who go there so just took their recommendation. We like it well enough. I was looking into other programs for the next school year since registration just came out for her current school. There is another school close by that costs $30 less/month, and they actually go for 15 minutes longer each day than her current school (3 days/week next year for 4 year old program). (cost is $220/month vs. $190)I am going to check it out, part of me thinks that saving $300 a year is just not enough to warrant moving her from a school she likes. On the other hand, the extra 15 mins of school is an additional benefit. Plus, she may be able to go in the morning (the morning times at her existing preschool conflict with my older DD's school times so she'd have to go in the afternoon). Morning times are high demand so not sure if I can count on that though.

  • If I were saving a significant amount of money I would look into other options, but for $300/year I wouldn't rock the boat if your child is thriving.  If you were going to save several thousand a year I would absolutely consider it, but not for a few hundred.

    I agree with this.

  • for $30 a month I wouldn't bother spending 2 seconds thinking about it, let alone visiting another school and maybe moving a kid.
  • I agree with everyone else, too
  • I would only worry about $30 a month if I could not pay my bills.  As for the decision, just think about where your child will thrive the most and go for that IMHO.

this, exactly. unless you are living paycheck to paycheck in the true meaning of that phrase.
