1 hr. glucose test already??

So last pregnancy I was considered "borderline" for have gestational diabetes and only had to watch my diet, no checking blood sugars.  When I met with the nurse last week she asked me how old I was and then said she was adding a blood sugar test to my initial bloodwork (I'm 30).  I didn't know she meant the 1 hr. glucose test until I got the hospital and had to drink that horribly sweet drink!  So I guess I dont know if I had to do it so early because I was borderline last PG or because of my age.  Anyone else have to take it so early?

I had to do it early the first 2 times because my mom had type 2 diabetes.  This time I'll probably have to do it because I had GD my second pregnancy.  I'm guessing it's probably because you were borderline last time.  I also heard the chances go up with age so it could be a bit of both.  I hate the stuff they make you drink.  You'd think they could just give you a bowl of cookies or something. lol

I switched over to my midwife kind of late...I think around 13 weeks? And they wanted me to do one before 16 weeks (I think that's the right timeline, can''t believe I can't remember already!). They wanted to test me b/c of my PCOS.
