TTC After a Loss

Charting after D&C/MC

Please forgive me if this has been covered.

We found out that we had lost our baby this past Wednesday.  I had a D&C yesterday.  My doctor seemed to think I'll be ovulating in two weeks when I come back for my post-op and then I would get my period two weeks after that.  If I'm trying to chart ovulation would I be able to say my "period" this month ended on the day of my D&C?

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks!

  • I'm sorry that you are in this situation. (For future reference it's a good idea to warn people if you have a ticker in your signature. It's very hurtful for some ladies, so we tend to post in the subject a ticker warning). I'm surprised that your doc thinks you'll ovulate so quickly. Either way, I believe you count the start of your cycle from the day of your D&C. Best of luck to you, and I hope your stay here is short.

  • I counted the day of my D&C as the first day of my cycle/period, since I bled/spotted for several days following the procedure. My experience was that I didn't ovulate for another 5.5 weeks after my D&C, but everyone is different. I found charting to be helpful in figuring out when my period would resume (and therefore when we could TTC again). Sorry for your loss.

  • Thank you for all of the advice!

How do I remove the ticker?!?!  I took off my due date from my profile but I can't figure out how to get rid of the ticker!  I want it gone just as much as everyone else, I'm sure!

  • I didn't chart after my D&C - but I did get my AF almost 4 weeks afterwards...What were your cycles like before your D&C?
