1 cm dilated, 100% effaced

Okay had my internal today and I am at about 1 cm dilated and 100% effaced. She said she could literally feel his head, and said that if I wanted to I could also. My question is should I be getting excited that he could be here, or could I sit here like this for the next week, just wondering what everyone else is experiencing. Thanks

I am 38 weeks, 2 days and i got my first internal today... only 1/2 cm dialated.. doctor didnt mention anything about effacement...

this is my first but I have heard of many other 2x mothers that had no pre-labor symptoms and labor still came on without any notice!

Did she say what station he is? If your 100% effaced and say, -4, it could still take a while for labor to start, but if he's at -1 or something you could start dilating pretty quick.  GL!

I had my 37 week appt tues and was 1cm dilated and 50% effaced---I felt the same way too..it's like something has started but yet I know everyone dilates at different speeds, especially since this is my first one. My dr did say since im full term and she could be born now I can start doing the things that could start labor...but I feel the same way..dont want to get too excited because it could be a while still..right?!

She said that his head is way down, and he is engaged, she had to have me pick my back up to feel my cervix because his head is literally in legs. I could reach down and feel his head if I wanted to.

Today is my due date and at my appt. Tuesday, I was 1 cm and 100% effaced.  I was 70% and 0 two weeks ago... SIGH... I wish they could say exactly when!  The wait is unbearable!!

As of yesterday I was 1 centimeter, 80% effaced, and at -2 station.  My OB said it could still be 3-4 weeks :-(

I'd say you're getting ready for a baby! If his head is engaged then it's RIGHT THERE. Good luck momma!
