3rd Trimester

Gonna have to do it... any advice?

My dress pants no longer fit under my belly for work... I am going to have to get some maternity ones (I really thought I could make it! lol)

Where do you get your maternity dress slacks from? I dont want to spend very much on them if at all possible.

Re: Gonna have to do it... any advice?

  • I like the ones from ON, they were fairly inexpensive and comfy.  Just be sure to check the size reviews before buying.

  • I agree about the ones from Old Navy. Target also has some fairly inexpensive options. I have one pair from Motherhood Maternity, and I don't like them as much because the band rolls down.

  • My three favorite pairs are from Kohls.
  • My favorite dress pants are from Kohls.  I haven't tried the ON one's b/c I'm short and don't want to order online.  And my Target one's started pilling recently. (I've been wearing them since 20 weeks.)

  • Target is having a clearance sale right now on maternity clothes.
Old Navy is good and Kohls. I would avoid Destination Maternity or Motherhood Maternity like the plague- they have TERRIBLE return policies.

Could also check eBay and Craigslist or consignment shops if you're really looking to save money.

  • I have 4 pairs from Motherhood Maternity...3 are great (2 black pair and a grey pair) and I wear them everyday to work, but the khaki pair I got shrunk horribly...which were a different style/fabric than the others.  I'm tall (6'1") so I like that they have the tall sizes and they have been very comfortable.  They ran between $25-$30 a pair which is more than I wanted to spend for 'temporary' use, but I work in a business dress office and didnt have much choice.

..have you thought about investing in a "Bella Band"?  If your pants still fit everywhere BUT the waist, it works really well! I've had mine since about 16w and I can still wear a couple of my pregnancy pants with the band.

I think they sell at target for about $20, but they save you $ if you dont have to buy new pants!

  • Target, Motherhood & Wal-Mart (online).  Wal-Mart's were cheap < 20 and they are great for the price, washed well  and all.  They run on the longer side so if you are short they wouldn't work unless you get them hemmed.  Old Navy's were HUGE.  I fit into their jeans perfectly but their dress pants I ordered were all significantly too large and I had to return them.

  • If you get Motherhood Maternity ones, secret fit belly is the way to go (panel covers your WHOLE belly).  Have you invested in a belly band?  Where you can wear your pants unzipped, but secured with the big band (also covers entire belly)?  I was able to get well into my 3rd trimester in regular jeans with that bad boy.

  • My favorite ones are from Kohls.  I got a pair in black and in gray.  I was trying to find a brown too but couldn't.  I didn't really like the ON ones...I found the band that fit over my belly to be restricting.
