So my RE wants me to be taking along with my Estradiol, a prenatal vitamin, an additional folic acid tablet & a DHEA supplement 25mg 3x's a day.
I have been on the first three & am going to get the DHEA tonight. After reading about the side effects of this supplement I am a little apprehensive to take it. It says to take only 25mg/daily & my RE wants me taking a total of 75mg. The side effects include: acne, hair loss, hair growth on the face (for women), aggressiveness, irritability, & increased levels of estrogen - and this is only when taking 25mg a day. I can't imagine what kind of pimply, hairy, bald, irritable hormonal mess I'm going to be after taking 75 mg/day!?!
Was curious if any of you are taking a DHEA supplement, how much you are taking & if you have noticed any of these side effects?
TIA for your responses

I was warned of the s/e. I shed a lot of hair, but it's not like clumps fall out, just a lot of shedding. Nothing else. I'm naturally irritable anyway.

DHA is not the same as DHEA. At all.
Oh!! Just asked dr.google about that and now I know the difference. Thanks for pointing that out.

I did 75 mg a day between April to July. I had my hormones checked in July and realized my serum testosterone levels were high so I cut back to 50mg. I've been on it ever since. Tested again in the beginning of Dec and all my levels were fine.
Only side effects I noticed was an oily back. Mostly around my shoulder blades. I also broke out on my back. Taking the 50 mg fixed the problem.

I am taking 25mg 3x a day also. I can't tell if that is the reason for my increased acne or if it's something else (I didn't notice it too much the first month I was on it).
inlove731:Those are some crazy side effects! What is the DHEA for is you don't mind me asking...? DHEA is used for those who have premature ovarian aging and AMA. Here is a link for more information.
I have been taking 25mg of DHEA three times a day since Oct. S/E I have experienced are mild, like pp's I have had my back break out and I have had some mild hair shedding.

For those that are curious, even though it is OTC, DHEA is a steroid hormone and should not be taken without your RE's supervision.
