3rd Trimester

I am down to 3 pairs of pants and 1 is not work-appropriate

I cannot wear yoga pants to work, so I'm down to black dress pants and black cargos.  All of my other maternity pants (and I have about 5 other pairs, including jeans) are now too small in the belly and the thighs!  It is depressing - I REALLY don't want to have to buy anything else for 9 more weeks, but I'm not sure a rotation of only 2 pairs would be too pathetic for work.  Your thoughts?

Re: I am down to 3 pairs of pants and 1 is not work-appropriate

  • I'm on the pathetic rotation then. I have 2 pairs of black work pants that I wear every week. I cannot wear my maternity blue jeans on Fridays since our casual friday clothing list was redone and blue jeans aren't acceptable. So jeans on the weekend and black work pants for work.

I'm not putting any money into more clothes that I won't wear again after this.

  • Do you have any dresses you can add to the rotation? I'd add some dresses if possible and not spend any more money on clothes that you likely won't wear after the baby.

  • I would work with the 2 pairs you have. Then I would keep my eye out at the 2nd hand stores or do you have a clothes mentor store there? They have mat clothes.

    Good luck

  • I wouldn't worry about the pants. If your tops still fit that's what people would notice faster.

  • Go buy some, 9 weeks is a long time IMO.  Go hit the clearance racks, or look on craigslist/ebay/consignment stores. I got a bunch of pants on ebay for $2-5 a pair when I was pg.

  • I am down to one pair that actually fits and another that I have to wear a super long shirt with to hide the fact I can't zip them. I also have a maternity skirt. So between those three I rotate a lot(and wash a lot) but luckily I work from home so when I do not have to leave the house I wear hospital pants.

I refuse to buy more clothing just for a few more weeks. If, however, I needed to buy something I would check out a consignment store, that is where I bought my black skirt. The skirt was a $10 and well worth the money. If you have any around you see what they have for maternity clothing.

  • I was at Target yesterday and they had a lot of winter maternity clothes on clearance- maybe check there for just *one* more pair of pants to get you through? They had a really cute dress for $15 but I have no reason to get a dress but it'd be perfect if I worked.

I'm the opposite in that I needed more comfy maternity pants - so Target had sweats on sale for 5 bucks (non maternity) I got 3 pair to wear after LO. Im actually wearing them now, theyre so soft. And they had nice converse long sleeve warm shirts on sale for $6 marked down from $25. Try your local Target :)

Also got a super soft Dwell Studio Boppy on sale for $30 marked down from $50 and a firepit on sale for $15 marked down from $60.

  • I have one pair of black dress pants and one pair of jeans that are appropriate for leaving the house in. And those jeans are getting to be on the small side. I have a pair of grey dress pants that need hemming, so I really need to get those into the rotation. I have sweats/yoga pants/too big hand me down jeans that I wear around the house and grocery shopping and stuff. I really don't want to have to go out and buy another pair of jeans for the next two months. Ugh. I don't have any suggestions for you, just commiserating.

  • THANK YOU for this post. I was feeling really down today when I realized I only have 1 pair of work pants that fit me anymore. I knew my stomach was going to get huge but I wasn't anticipating my thighs, hips and butt to be pregnant too.

I don't feel so alone and fat anymore. Bless you all!

  • I am so with you! I bought a few pairs on craigslist and at a second hand maternity store but now they are all getting too tight in the thighes. I have one pair of jeans and one pair of black pants... I am thinking of buying just one more pair at the second hand store again and old navy has some clearance tops for $6-9 right now that are longer. Most of the sweaters I bought are now getting to be too short-ugh!

Maybe try a consignment shop in your area or old navy for some cheap things to last the next few weeks:)

I was really hoping to be that cute pregnant lady with the stylish maternity clothes but the further along I get the more I just want to wear pajamas!

  • add me to the pathetic rotation train.

im lucky i get to wear jeans on fridays- my maternity jeans still fit fine.

but i have 3 pairs of work pants that work. i recently started adding a pair of leggings and a pair of black yoga pants. so i guess technically its 5.

lets not talk about what happens when i dont do laundry for 4 days.

This is me exactly. I really only have one pair that fit. The others I can still squeeze into but they are VERY uncomfortable. I am heading to target asap.
