Seriously. The things you learn about your reproductive organs while undergoing fertility treatments are astounding.
I had my trial ET yesterday, and I thought it would be super quick and easy. Well, I was in stirrups with a FULL bladder for a good 40 minutes while my RE tried approximately 10 different kinds of catheters and about 20 different positions to get the catheter into my ute.
Apparently, my uterus has an "S curve". Left, then right for those of you who are wondering.
Re: I haz an "S curve"
Hi "S". I'm "J". Yep, mine has a J curve. As if we don't have enough going on...
Snuggle in tight little ones! Good luck to you.

Interesting...Will they be able to do it with the catheter then on the day of ET? Or will they have to do it surgically? (I swear when we had the IVF talk with our RE he told us that if for whatever reason the mock didn't go well, there's be a surgery charge at the hospital b/c they'd have to go in surgically.)
Was it painful at all or just more uncomfortable to have to lay there like that with them poking and prodding around?!
DX: High FSH/DOR
It took 44 cycles, just over 3 years, 6 failed IUI's in MI, and 1 round of IVF at CCRM to get our BFP!

I guess that's why they do a mock transfer. Once she had it figured out, the catheter went in pretty easily. She slid it in and out a few times once she had the "steering" and angle down and she seemed satisfied. I'm just hoping it will be her doing the actual ET and not one of my other docs trying to follow her "directions" into my ute.
Let's just say it wasn't pleasant. It wasn't *painful* as much as reeeeally uncomfortable. Full bladder + speculum isn't fun anyway, and she was really jabbing the catheter hard to get it at first to try and get around the curve.
If I'm an S, and we have a J, I wonder what other letters are out there!

Ohh....how interesting! I also think it's strange that I can say I've seen my ovaries, fallopian tubes and uterus- from several different angles! Yikes.
I'm totally rooting for you!!!!!!

Add another letter to the category - I have a T shaped uterus!
Thankfully it's only mildly T shaped, apparently a severe T shape can be a big issue.
We might get a whole alphabet at this rate!
Seriously though, sorry to hear you had an uncomfortable experience today, but glad they found out now rather than on the Big Day!

It's a BOY!!!
This happened to me too. I was fine when they did the mock transfer and apparently my swollen ovaries caused my uterus to tilt forward after stims. in the words of my RE my ute was using my ovary as a pillow.
and yeah, it sucked and hurt as they put a stich in to try to pull my ute forward to get everything in place.
