Baby Jogger: City Mini vs. City Select

I mistakenly sold my single bugaboo not realizing I just might have one twin alone.  I got the Bumbleride Indie Twin and while I love it, it's a monster in the car on a daily basis.

Was considering the Mini vs. Select.  I haven't touched either in real life.  I like that the select has a single/double option, but this is pricey and at 4 mos we're probably at the tail end to use the carseat attachment options anyway.

The mini seems more compact, cheaper.  But then I also will likely need to buy a single stroller.  Also if you prefer mini, do you know the differences between 2010 vs. 2011?

Re: Baby Jogger: City Mini vs. City Select

  • I you have an Indie Twin you don't need a City Mini IMO. They weigh similar amounts and you can do more w/ the Indie since it's more of an AT stroller. I have the Mini and the select and the Select folds more compactly than the Mini. Well not as flat, but obviously it's narrower. I'd rather have a tandem + SBS than 2 SBSs. The Select is also on sale now so if you're not getting the car seat attachments it's not much more than the Mini. The 2011 Mini has boards in the backs of the seats and has something to make the seats sit up straighter. You can get boards for the 2010 model separately and I've read posts on other boards that say you can rig the 2010 seat to be whatever they did to the new 1. I haven't tried it though since I'm still using a DSNG.

  • I have the bumbleride - and I love it.

Like pp said, I don't feel like I need the mini (which is just a lighter version of the Bumbleride).  We contemplated getting the Select, but I just didn't like how heavy it is.

We actually got a Bumbleride Flyer and use that a lot when we are out and about.  Usually I'll wheel one in the flyer while dh bjornes the other baby.  Added bonus?  No twin comments!

  • if you have the bumbleride indie twin i see no reason to get a Mini- go with the Select for sure... aside from being able to use it as a single - the fact that it's tandem is why i would get it- since you already have a SBS.

i LOVE the select. I got it when my boys were 6mo old and use it every day.

  • I ordered the Select through a local baby store, told them that I wanted to buy this today but they had to match the prices I found online, they did and I ended up with a brand new double stroller for $430.00!  I love how this stroller has a million configurations.  I did hear the new 2011 has a board for the seats, but quite frankly, i'm pretty crafty and I can make my own board. LOL!
