New to BWing. BabyHawk?

Hello all and TIA.  I am new to babywearing as I had bad luck with it with my first child.  I had tried a sling type pouch (which he hated) and a wrap carrier that I hated though I forget the brand.  It was just a loop of fabric and I couldn't figure it out.

Now with child number two I would really like to try something as this little girl wants to be held constantly!  lol.  I've read alot of good reviews on the BabyHawk Mei Tai and was wondering what you all thought of this for a first timer.  Or is thee another wrap that would be better?

Thanks!!!!

  • A mei tai isn't actually a wrap but it is a great carrier.  I absolutely love my toddler version.  It is very comfortable and easy to use.  What use are you looking for?  That would help us identify what might work well for you.  Are you looking to wear during naps, while doing housework, when out and about, etc.?

  • All of the above! LOL I am looking for something that will allow me both hands free to do chores, push a grocery cart, ect.  And yes, something comfy she can nap in while I carry her around, and also something I can discreetly and easily BF in.

  • I think the babyhawk is a great choice for a young baby.  It's fairly easy to figure out (easier than a wrap ;-), definitely hands free, and comfortable.  They are also relatively easy to breastfeed in - you just loosen the straps a bit so you can wear baby lower, re-tie, and nurse (you can find how to videos on youtube).
  • I think a mei tai is one of the most versatile carriers.  If you want an everything carrier, it is the way to go.  And Babyhawks are excellent, they are made well and comfortable.  I prefer my Kozy mei tai (it is just a little comfier on me for unknown reasons) but it is pretty roomy for a small baby.
  • Thanks all for the feedback.  I've been plaing on the BH site with colors and patters and was wondering if any of you have the minkee liner?  We're currently in Chicago but will be miving to the Seattle are this upcoming May.  Is the minkee a good idea do you think or would it be too warm?  Seattle doesn't get real hot I don't think...
