Are you taking advantage of the current sales to stock up for next winter? I'm wondering what the chances are that I'll guess right on the sizes.
I bought almost all DD's wardrobe from newborn- 18 months, and so far, everything has worked out (except for the few outfits that I bought that weren't season appropriate). I haven't needed to buy very much additional because I had so much for her. I have a bit of an addiction to shopping though, so I still manage to spend $$.
The deals are so great that it's hard not to take advantage. I'm leaning toward getting her some of the really inexpensive stuff. I mean, I've bought a lot ahead of time up until this point and haven't had problems. I just don't want her to have a bunch of clothes that she can't wear next year.
Re: Do you buy clothes for the following year?
I used to. Until my child became Mr. Unpredictable. Even now I have no idea what'll fit him. He can wear 12 month in some things and 24 in others, even within the same brand.
Like say Old Navy...if I go by the size chart he is in 2T for height, but only on the very low end of 12-18 for weight. It's way confusing. I never even know what size to buy him right NOW, so I have to try things on.
I only do if I can't resist something uber cute and it's a super good deal.
I've had things work out buying ahead so far and will continue to do so. I feel a little better on the big range sizes (like 6-12 months) that they'll fit them at some point. A lot of things can be worn many times of year like long sleeved tees. I figure if I get a great deal, I can always sell it at a consignment sale and recoup most of my $ if it's something like gymboree.
Gymboree you can return items for store credit for 180 days so that gives you some time if you realize it probably won't work. The only thing that stinks about that is that you can't use it with gymbucks--i.e you'd have to pick out $75 of merchandise to use a gymbuck and a $25 credit.
