My friend had a wrap made. She picked the fabric and a local baby store made it. It's very cute and she loves it. I plan on asking her how she found out about the store making them, etc...
I tried using three different ones when I had DS in hopes of him actually liking one of them...the first one was a sling that I had registered for (i don't remember the brand unfortunately) but the instant I put him in he screamed bloody murder! I kept trying with it for 2 months but he just would not go in.
The other one was the Bjorn. I borrowed if from my sister, and DS actually stayed in that one, I guess he liked it, and I used it when I walked the dog. We used it till my back started killing me because he got heavy. I think he liked this one the best because he could face out and see the world.
The last one was called the Scootababy. I actually bought it used off craigslist because it's so darn expensive new! It's can be used for a variety of weights because it's a hip carrier. It was pretty good and didn't hurt my back as much but I think DS just doesn't like carriers because he still fusses to get out of it. I can still use it with DS and he's 29 pounds!
I really really wanted to carry my baby around but DS was not a cooperative baby! I kept seeing all these women carrying their babies and I'm so jealous. My SIL carries her 3 month old everywhere (she's an attachment parent) and her son has no problems whereas mine couldn't stand the things! I'd say give it a try and see if your baby likes being carried in a sling or carrier. It's worth the try I think because if they DO like it then it makes things so easy, but if your baby turns their nose up to slings like mine did then you can just sell it on craigslist or gift it to someone else you know who's having a baby.
I plan to get a moby and an ergo for when the baby is bigger. Not sure my husband will want to use the moby, so I may see about getting a newborn insert for the ergo so he can use it.

I loved the Moby with my DS but it gets pretty warm. Since this is a summer baby I am going to do some research on some lighter weight carriers, also I heard some offer UV protection. I haven't looked into it that much yet.
My sister says she has loved her moby wrap with all 3 of her girls, so I am going with that.
this is what I'll be using. I will be making it myself though. IBuy 6.5 yards of jersey knit fabric, cut it in half so you have two 6.5 yards of fabric. Use one and keep the other one if you need it later.
I plan to get an ergo carrier. Several friends and my sister love the ergo. My sister doesn't even have a stroller because she always uses the ergo for my niece (1 1/2 yrs old).
With DD, we had a Baby Bjorn, which I HATED, and when she was about 6 months old, we got an Ergo and DH and I both loved carrying her in it. I plan to use it again, but may look into a Moby or similar type wrap for when baby is really little.
It seems Moby is quite a popular choice. I've heard not to great things about it. Like it's difficult to use, not enough support for the baby, expensive, etc. I might give it a try because it looks so comfortable on.

I definitely want to get one or two. My sister recommended the Ergo, she said they could use that for a long time - and my nephew is BIG. So I'll probably get that, and a sling or wrap.
I had the Baby K'tan sling and really liked it. You can wear it a few different ways and I never felt as though DS was going to fall out. I also have the Ergo and love it. I think they have come out with a more breathable or lightweight version which might be better- mine got a little hot at times.

Moby is fantastic for a small baby (under 6 months), although DS was a winter baby. I'm hoping it's not too hot for June! I have way too many carriers, so I've got lots of options. I will start out with the Moby and a ring sling, and move to my Babyhawk, Ergo, or woven wrap later on. I know, way too many! One thing I'd never choose is a Bjorn. It's horribly uncomfortable and has a low weight limit. I can still wear my 30-lb toddler in a woven wrap!
