DS will be starting daycare on Monday and I want to also start time outs. He has horrible fits and throws anything he can get his hands on. How do you coordinate time-outs and daycare?

I don't know if I'm wrong by saying this but I think You should hold off on starting the timeouts. If you haven't started them by now then doing so plus putting him in daycare all at the same time (I think) would be a little overwhelming. Plus, at his age, is he really going to understand the lesson learned? I'm sure the daycare providers are well trained to deal with tantrums and recognize that it is normal development in a toddler. Maybe you can ask how they deal with them and get their input for your own peace of mind.

Like another poster mentioned - I would ask dc how they handle temper tantrums, etc...I know mine likes to go with redirection at this age and I support that...
at home we do "timeouts", but only recently and for biting/hitting/pushing...and by "timeout" I mean we tell them no____ and remove them from the situation by putting them in the other room (living room/dining room are connected and gated off)...they usually cry/scream/throw a fit about it for 30 seconds and then come back into the room we are in....
Re: Time-outs and Daycare
I think the general concensus is that time out's don't generally work at your DS's age. Redirection is the key.
Also, the daycare probably has their own discipline policy so they might not handle things the way you do.
