First of all, let me re-introduce myself. I was on this board a while back, but just haven't had the time to post much the last few months. Dh and I are starting our first IVF cycle this month and to say I'm scared/nervous/anxious would be an understatement at this point. Last week I had my initial BW and ultrasound done and received a good report (although she did see one small cyst - which I've never had before! - she said it seemed like nothing to worry about).
I'm not on the NuvaRing for a few weeks (which I hate) until we meet with our nurse to learn about meds and a schedule for how things will work the next couple of months.
I have a few questions/concerns so far for those who have gone through this process and if you can help, I would really appreciate it!
I guess that's all of my questions for now. If you have any other helpful info you'd like to throw my way, I'm open to it!
TIA! Good luck to you all!
We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And HOPE does not dissappoint.

Re: IVF questions...
Hi! I did my first IVF this past November. I didn't experience any weight gain outside of the usual feelings of bloat at the time of ER. I have gained weight throughout my last 2.5 years of TTC but nothing out of the ordinary during the actual IVF cycle.
The only medication that affected my moods was the progestrone. I felt extremely irritable on it and had to make a very concentrated effort not to flip out on my husband on a daily basis. Although I, obviously hated getting a BFN, I was quite relieved to be able to stop those injections. The entire cycle was really not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I was used to the injections because I had done a few IUIs with injectables.
Good luck to you!!

Hello!
To answer your questions, I gained about 2 pounds during my first cycle. I looked bigger though because of the bloat but it wasn't true weight.
I kept waiting and waiting for my the mood swings, emotions, etc., but I didn't notice a huge shift in my moods. I had a relatively easy cycle which was a very welcome surprise. The worst part was the emotional torture of waiting and worrying that each step was going to go well.
I did take very good care of myself though. I ate well and drank a ton of water and rested a lot. I didn't work very much either so I didn't have too many outside stressors. I definitely think that helped!
Best of luck!
Pounds gained from IVF process: 5-10. m/c and lap: another 5-10.
Lupron gives me wild headaches.
I am a teacher (high school) and have held it together most of the day-- until I get home with DH-- then I'm a crying mess.
Other times-- I feel great!
I'm sure a BFP would have helped my moods and weight gain afterwards.

First of all best of luck to you! take good care of yourself! for me this was a very difficult time of my life but well worth it and I couldn't have done it without dh and the ladies on this board
first cycle I didn't gain any weight unitl after the ER which was all fluid and bloat and lost it in a couple of weeks, it was no big deal all clothes still fit. second cycle I gained 10 pounds but lost half in a few weeks and now I am not going to put myself on a scale until my OB makes me do it. But my jeans still fit, even my skinny jeans- well last week they fit.
I didn't have mood swings, I got emotional towards the end of stims but nothing major. The best thing I did was acupuncture and would highly recommend it if you can. get a heating pad for after ER and before ET, drink plenty of water.

Hi
I gained about 10 pounds since I started treatment cycles in August but not sure how much of that is just me being an emotional eater
My moods didn't change all that much, maybe just a little more emotional but again not sure if it is related to the meds or just because this whole process is emotional in and of itself.
Good luck with your upcoming treatment cycle!!!
I felt a bit more moody than usual (Lupron/repronex/follistem/progesterone) on the first try but the second try I knew what to expect. The emotions can really play tricks on you. I gained weight the first time but not so much the second time because I was trying to eat healthy and I cut out the junk food. Just some bloating. Try to stay positive and keep occupied because the 2ww is the hardest. I did things i enjoy the most the second time around which helped a lot and i took good care of myself physically and mentally. Also got some good manicures and got my hair done...always helps:).
Baby vibes to you!
I'll keep you posted on my 3rd try. Good luck to you and stay positive
Med reactions are going to be different from one person to the next. Literally I had NO side affects and the meds went really well for me.
However, I did gain about 10lbs. when I started the progestrone. I did not gain any weight prior to taking the progestrone.
