How much do nannies cost in NYC?

Hi-
My husband and I are just in the beginning stages of talking about TTC and we have no idea how much nannies in NYC cost- is there a general range?  We both work full time so we would need a live-out nanny who would work M-F approx. 8am-6pm. Thanks for the info!

My friends pay their nanny $19/hour for 2 kids on the UWS. When they only had one they paid her $16. She is wonderful & very flexible, but she also gets one half day/week off & they give her 2 weeks paid vac as well. I think that is on the upper end of average.

I've been a nanny for the past 2 years in NY and here is what i was making:

First family was in Brooklyn: $12/hr

Second family in Manhattan $15/hr

both for 1 kid
