Food Sensitivity Check In

This check in is for mamas who have had to restrict their diet due to food sensitivities in their LOs or themselves.

I'm picking back up the meals theme.  Hopefully the thread will be more active now that the holidays are over.

The theme for this week is lunch foods.  The first was breakfast foods. Second was snacks.  Next week will be dinner.

Any random tips, vents, etc. are also welcome.

Re: Food Sensitivity Check In

  • For lunch I do a lot of salads (romaine lettuce with Annie's Organic French dressing), baked sweet potatoes, grilled or saut?ed chicken with rice, oven fries, or leftovers. I also do In n Out a lot. They cook their fries in canola oil, and I get a protein-style burger (lettuce wrap instead of a bun) with grilled onions.

Right now we're trying goat's milk (me drinking, not C). He seems to be doing ok so far, but I don't want to get my hopes up. For the time being I'm just enjoying drinking milk again!

I also had In-n-out yesterday :-) I'm not good at lunch. I alternate between a limited number of soups and some vegan enchiladas I get from Trader Joes. DD eats an organic soy yogurt, veggie, and some sort of meat daily for lunch. It is really boring but it covers her nutritional needs.

I am really starting to think she has issues with wheat, or something. Not when I eat it but when she does. I avoid giving her bread and only give her Quinoa pasta or brown rice noodles. I'm debating on having another round of skin tests and/or blood tests now that she is turning two but I really don't want to put her through all that. This IMO would be a horrific age to do those tests.

I am proud of myself for making it through another holiday season on a restricted diet. There were a few times over the past week where I felt like I was losing my resolve. I think though it was mainly because I was off work and had a lot of time to think about food.

  • I am a vegetarian as well as dairy, soy, and peanut free. So, coming up with options can be really hard! I found out Quorn meatless products are soy free and dairy free so I have been eating their chicken patties and nuggets a lot recently for lunch. I put a patty on multigrain bread with some mixed greens and change up my toppings. They do have eggs in them though, something to be aware of in case you are egg-free. And lot of times I just do dinner leftovers.
