Has anyone worked with Jane Weiser? If yes, did you find her to be helpful? If not, can you recommend anyone else or any classes/groups? I am hoping for an in-home visit, but am willing to travel if need be.
I never worked with her, I worked with someone in Queens. I met two of the women from Real Birth when I was pregnant and they were both incredibly knowledgeable and nice.
Both said that at home visits are pricey and that you should try bringing baby into classes first.
try a la leche meeting too... many LCs belong to it and go to the meetings. When I lived in upstate ny 2 years ago... a home visit was $100... I cannot imagine what it is here. But the LC I went to there hosted La Leche meetings at her house. In the midwest there was a free bf clinic staffed with IBCLCs (it was affiliated with the hospital I delivered my son in). They said they couldn't charge b/c it would exclude too many people since insurances usually do not cover it. If you have latch issues, get something in writing from your pedi and a receipt from the LC and file a claim. You never know, they may just cover a portion. ???
Thanks all. I just went to the Real Birth walk in clinic today and it was really informative. The lactation consultant was great -- I highly recommend.
Re: lactation consultants
I haven't met w/a LC yet, but wanted to suggest La Leche Leaigue for more resources: https://www.llli.org/
Also, I'm scheduled to take a bf class through Real Birth: https://www.realbirth.com/ & they may have someone who could help you.

I met Heather Kelly and Ayelet Kaznelson.
