My Dr told me she thought DD was ready for foods and since she was just diagnosed with reflux she said to give her the rice cereal or the oatmeal. She didn't want me to spike her bottles but give it to her on the spoon.
We tried and for the first week DD ate cereal like a champ had no tongue thrust reflex at all. She even started on prunes (also recommended for bowel issues) and did great. Now we've hit a bump she will not even open her mouth for food. Its not like she's spitting it out she's actually sucking her lips in and will not accept any food at all.
Am I supposed to just go back to all bottle again?
Re: Baby eating question
Was the reflux much worse before starting solids?
If she does ok just on the bottles, I'd say you could take a break on solids and try again later.
If she needs solids for reflux, maybe try a different food?
Above all don't force it. And most docs do not recommend cereal in the bottle bc it can lead to early overweight/obesity problems.
DS would not open his mouth for solids and it lasted for 6 weeks. I waited 5-7 days in between encouraging. All of a sudden he started eating last week. I hated people telling me he wasn't ready, but it's probably true.
Not sure since she was doing it and now not. Try again when she is hungry and put the spoon to her lower lip. Sorry, hope it gets better soon.
