DS will be 15 months old in two weeks. He is a binky baby! And, we are still on the nighttime bottle- we are down to 2 oz bottle of milk at bedtime. We tried to ween him down this weekend/over the holidays from the bottle, but he got sick, and it's his only way to soothe him when it's time to go to bed.... My friend weened her son off both at like 11 months old. I know every baby is different, but I think we've made it harder on ourselves the longer we wait
Re: Almost 15 months old...still on binky and bottle
Well my DS stopped taking the paci around 5 months old so no advice there. But as far as the bottle goes...he didn't stop until right after he turned 15 months. Just keep trying - once you find a sippy cup he really likes it'll be easy.
My cousin has a DS that's only a month younger than mine....we saw them yesterday for our Christmas party. He's still using a paci and gets a night time bottle. Don't feel bad. I think the paci is fine until 2 years old? At least that's what I've heard.
Zack is very attached to his pacifier and he needs it when he's sleeping. Ideally we would get rid of it now, but he only just started sleeping well, so I'm not rocking the boat yet.
We're weaned from bottles, I guess, since he's decided he won't drink milk anymore. Ever.
I had no plans to worry about bottle or pacifier use until 2 years.
Jacob stopped taking bottles completely about 14m. We started to wean one bottle a week around 13m and they were gone in about a month. When he's feeling better, I would think that a 2oz bottle could just be taken away cold turkey.
Jacob still has a paci. He only takes it for naptime and bedtime. We're going on a trip in late February right before his 2nd birthday. Once this trip and his bday are finished, we're going to get rid of that.
Don't fret. You're doing what you need to do to make your baby happy.
DS is almost 21 months and I made it his new year's resolution to drop the night time bottle. I actually started it a few days before New Year's, and it has worked out really well. He still asks for the bottle on our way up to bed and starts to cry when we turn out the lights and doesn't have the bottle, but we just start singing or distracting him some way and he stops crying. I say cold turkey is the way to go.
We nevery used a binky so I can't help you there. My nephew is almost 2.5 and he still uses the binky when he gets really tired.
Good luck!
