Recommend your blackout curtains/window covering solution

Hi PAL,

Trying to wrap my head around this curtain thing...can you recommend what works for you/warn what is not working? We live in a city- so plenty of street light outside. I was thinking I'd like to do wood slat blinds for starters- and then just a regular curtain over the top but have been warned that perhaps the light will find its way thru the sides of the blinds and if the curtain is not heavy enough, the room will be too light for naps, etc.

If you got blackout curtains that actually work, please recommend! (A friend got what was called blackout curtains but they weren't dark enough so she ended up pinning black trash bags in between the layers- hoping to avoid that extra step!!)

I have Eclipse blackout curtains from walmart, they do the job, but I do nail them into the walls to keep all light out.
