Infertility

Introduction

I'm not really new here but I've been MIA for a long long time so I thought I'd re-introduce myself since I don't recognize anyone here anymore.  Our only diagnosis is MFI.  DH seems to have a pattern where his numbers are higher in the winter months (14mil/ml, 40% mot, 0-2%morph) and then gradually drop to very low by the fall months (100,000/ml, 10% mot, 0% morph).  We thought it must be a lifestyle thing but can't figure out what it could be so we think it must just be his working outside in the heat that affects it.

We are doing an IUI next cycle and while technically its our 4th, it feels like our first since its been so long and we've never done one while his count is this high.  His last SA he had 23 mil total motile so we're hoping we have about 10 mil post wash.  Our only pg in the 4 years we've been TTC was from IVF and we m/c early with a blighted ovum.  If IUIs don't work we will hopefully be doing IVF again in May/June.  We have been on a two year break so I feel like we are getting a fresh start.

AF is due any day but doesn't seem anywhere in sight.  Doesn't that figure,  when you are anxiously waiting for her to show, she takes her sweet ol' time?  I even POAS trying to make her show.  That has always worked in the past.

  • meg_koole - Thanks for the AF vibes, I'll gladly take them for you :)  We are actually just across the border from Sioux Falls, SD.  That's where our RE is.  How do you like your RE in Fargo?  We were thinking of finding a new one.  Our options would be the twin cities, omaha NE, or the Fargo area but I wasn't sure if there was an RE there.

  • I hope its Ok if I post.  Have they talked to you about agriculture stuff causing the MFI?  I know when I was with my first RE, he was in Fargo and he mentioned that historically the rural areas tend to have folks with lesser fertility in the spring/summer and better in the winter.  They suspect its the pesticides and herbicides but only have anectodal info.  I just saw you were from rural MN and thought I'd mention it FWIW.  Anyway, good luck!
  • Good luck with your IUI! Welcome backa nd I hope your stay here is short!
