Afraid to use my hotsling

I have a sling and would love to use it. But i am scared baby will fall out! It just seems to easy to me, compared to something like a baby bjorn.  I watched the how to video on You Tube and I think I got the hang of how to fold it properly and put LO in it.  I havent yet put baby in it yet, but i guess in my head I picture him tumbling out the front if I lean over even a tiny bit. I guess his weight and gravity are what keep him held in there, right?

I know this sounds dumb!  Can anyone rec a good online instructional video for me?

Re: Afraid to use my hotsling

  • That is totally understandable, it looks like your LO is very young, under 2 months. When DD was that age I didn't use my hotsling (or any other sling of that sort) either. In fact I found it impossible to place her comfortably in there and she cried on the few occasions I managed. At the time I only used a Bjorn, which was really good for me despite all the bad rep it has (it was a hand-me down and the best way of getting DD from A to B in our walk friendly neighborhood). If I were you I would wait with the hotsling and instead buy a moby wrap (other ladies here can help you out with that, I never used one but would have if I had been aware of its existence). As you can see in my signature the hotsling is now used for hip carry around the house but not much else. Good luck with it!
