Just curious where to even begin with planning a Disney vacation. I know many of you have gone multiple times and I've seen posts about deals. Just curious if there is a particular website that is best for planning and deals?
My husband and I just became members of the Disney Vacation Club this summer! I LOVE Disney! We went for our honeymoon and have gone back every year and plan to go back every year from now on.
My favorite planning site is allears.net and my favorite forum is mouseowners.com . The actual Disney site is okay, but not near as informative as allears. Most of the same deals that you find on random deals websites are the ones that are on the official Disney website.
My favorite book for planning is The Unofficial Guide to Disney World 20(11) by Bob Sehlinger and Len Testa (they come out with a new one every year to keep up with the updates). This book also has a website touringplans.com .
After all of the information in the book, it advocates their touring guides in the back. They're great if you're willing to be a commando tourist but you definitely don't have to follow them to have a good time. My husband and I used to do the commando effort but now that we'll be having a little one and probably taking family with us from now on, we're going the leisurely do-whatever-whenever route.
I love planning Disney vacations and I had one set for the beginning of next June, but now I'm due on the first day of the vacation so that one will just have to get pushed back.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions! Good luck in your planning!
Disney usually advertises specials 90 days in advance. So we'll pick a date way ahead of time, and then wait till that 90 day window to decide where we'll stay.

If you go to disney's site you can request a free dvd. We just got ours (the kids are watching it now) so I can't review it yet but it is free.
