I am supposed to go for my 72 hour hcg draw today. It is just my second one..the NP at my OB's office is acting like this is super important and like there is still hope of success here...I know there is not. My husband went to work today and I really really don't want to go do this alone. I don't see the point..the OB is closed today anyway. Why can't I just get it done on Monday? I don't want to face the questions from the phlebo about how my day is going..am I being ridiculous? I am just such a control freak that as soon as that needle leaves my arm I am going to obsess over the numbers and pray for a miracle.
Re: Do I have to?
Well after getting dizzy during the blood draw I was sent to the ER. I dont know why I got dizzy, I think everything just hit me all at once. My H&H were low in ER so I got fluids..yet again. However, since I was there, they decided they needed to do a pelvic exam. I considered refusing but the doc was so nice and she seemed very concerned. My cervix was closed and I knew that this meant the worst of it had to be over, especially since I had not had any cramps to speak of since last night. Then they were able to get my HCG results, down to 1300 from ~7500 three days ago. THEN they said they needed to do an ultrasound because they did not have access to my ultrasound results from 3 days ago, my doc was out of town, and the on call doc was no help in that area. The positive part, if you can call it that, is that the pregnancy that was there 3 days ago was gone, confirming that, at least physically, the worst is over.
So, all in all, I am glad that I went. It did give me some closure. Looking forward to a new year for all of us!!
So sorry for your loss! This has been a crappy year. it breaks my heart to go on here everyday and see 1, 2 and sometimes 3 new woman on this board who have also lost their LO's, But is also a great help sometimes when I need some advice or just someone to vent to. I do think it is important to go and have the blood work done because your levels are supposed to be dropping and if they dont or go up it is cause for concern. I am learning this the hard way, my levels were going down and then began to go back up and are still creeping back up which my MW says is most likly tissue left and we are now talking about having a dne almost a whole month later. I hope all goes well for you and that the physical is over soon.
I will say that having to go back to the office once and sometimes 2 times a week for my draws really S*CKS because of seeing the other pregnant woman that now seem to be everywhere we look and also there are the people that see no belly and ask questions, I do cry every single time im in there without fail. But now my MW's bring me right back into a room far from hearing other LO's heart beats. (which happend my first appointment back there after my MC. (((HUGS))) to you!
