1st Trimester

Might be TMI...(Apologies ahead of time)

I don't know if it's the cold weather or my hormones, but...my nipples are drying out hardcore no matter how much lotion I put on and water I drink. Weird symptom or what?

  • Mine have been dry lately too, I think its a combination of cold, dry weather + hormones :/

  • Hmm, not sure, but try lanolin.

  • When I was pumping with DS, I had that problem. I used organic coconut oil on them--much better for you than Lanolin, lotion, etc. Also, try not to get soap on them in the shower, it dries them out even more.

  • Mine have been really dry since DD and I just put on nipple cream a couple days a week. Helps a lot! Also, like the pp said, no soap around the nipples will help too.

  • Same here!  I tend to think it's from hormones as I've never experienced this before, even in the winter.

  • Avoid using soap on them in the shower and I suggest nipple cream, it works wonders.  When I was pg with DS they would get so dry they would bleed.  The only thing that worked with the nipple cream and icing them down.

I just noticed the same thing for the first time yesterday - and also my finger tips were super dry coming out of the shower. I wonder if that's from hormones too??

  • Go out and buy some Lansinoh Lanolin cream. It's meant to keep nipples from chaffing and cracking while breastfeeding. I'm sure that it can be just as helpful with dry weather being the cause of the drying and cracking: https://www.lansinoh.com/

PS: It's awesome for when you're nursing. :)
