We rented a cabin in the mountains for New Years. It was suppose to be for 4 days. We have done this for about the last 10 years.
The place we rented from called and said that the road to the cabin is impassible yesterday and we needed to wait for the snow to melt. Today they call and say that the snow melted, but it is too muddy to get a car up there and it is suppose to rain more tomorrow. They have no other vacancies. Just for fun, they do not give refunds only credits. We can't get to the cabin and there are apparently no vacant cabins anywhere.
My warning is to always call and make sure the cabin you rent is on an accessible road, not a rutted out dirt road, unless you drive a 4 wheel drive.
I hate that this is wasting time I could be spending with my friends!
Re: Vacation rental warning
I'd demand a full refund and if they say no and you paid by credit card you can dispute the charge.
If they could provide something comparable for the same time frame it's one thing but for them go just say "oh well, we don't have anything and you have to come some other time" is not acceptable.
