Pregnant after IF

5 Hours at the ER Last Night

Wow, what a night. I was having some recurrent sharp pains in my right ovary area for the last couple of days. Last night, I told my partner it was time to go to the ER to get it checked out.

They drew my beta, which was 333 (up from 158 the day before, and 75 two days before that).  They also did a transvaginal ultrasound. I am only 4 weeks, so they weren't able to see a gestational sac yet, but they could not find any evidence of ectopic pregnancy either. I have not had any bleeding or severe cramping - just this persistent pain. It feels like it's right on top of my ovary.

They said my ovaries looked fine, no cysts. Basically, they couldn't find a reason for my sharp pains and told me to follow up with my OB next week. I am very relieved they didn't find anything alarming, but part of me wishes there was a definitive answer for these stupid pains.

The doctor and nurses were great. The doctor was very interested in hearing about our IUI procedure and thought it was really neat that two girls made a baby :) I'm looking forward to seeing my OB on Monday morning, just to ease my mind that everything is indeed still OK.  Chalk it up to first time Mommy nerves I guess :)

  • I think sometimes the corpus luteum cyst can give weird pain (it's the cyst that's supposed to be there that makes progesterone until the placenta takes over.)  I hope you're feeling better today! I'm glad they at least didnt' find anything bad and that your numbers are still rising.

    Take it easy!

  • So sorry to hear you were in the ER. I hope you're feeling better. Drink lots of water and rest.
