Checking in - Happy Carson update

Hi ladies!  It's been a while since I posted.  Carson is doing so well, we are very happy.  He is working with his PT on his back arching, and I actually think it is a little better.  He has CVI, but we are working on that also, doing lots of vision stimulation.  At his 4 month checkup he hit all his milestones and his pedi thinks he looks great.  We went to the nephrologist today and we will go back in May for labs, but his kidney ultrasound was looking good.  Next month we have another EEG (hopefully our last) and if it is finally normal, then we will wean him off the keppra.

The last 4 months have been the fastest and slowest of my life.  Does that even make sense?  Right now I am finally feeling like we are in a good place and things are hopeful.

I am SO ready for 2011!  Happy New Year to you guys!

Carson Henry, born 39w, 2d, via emergency c/s due to no fetal movement and fetal distress.  Seizures, IVH grade 2, brain injury, kidney and liver damage.  Complete blood clot in the artery in his right arm.  27 days in the NICU.  Now discharged from all specialists, excepts his kidney doctor, who will monitor him indefinitely.  My tough little cookie.

  • Great news!  I hope the EEG comes out normal so you can wean him off the Keppra.  What is CVI?

Cortical vision impairment - eyes are perfect, but the brain has a hard time decoding the pictures the eyes take.  Due to the brain damage.
