3rd Trimester

Is your due date changed if you're 33 weeks, but are measuring 36?

DH and I had an ultrasound this morning and our tech told us that the baby is measuring 5lbs. 13oz. I?ve only gained a little over 12lbs during my pregnancy, so I just figured that he wouldn?t be a large baby. However, this little guy is half the weight that I?ve gained! LOL! I was wondering does anyone know does your OB change your due date when this occurs this late in the pregnancy?

  • I am going through the same thing.  I had only gained 4lbs and our baby was measuring at 5.5 at 32 wks.  My Dr. did not change my due date but requested another growth u/s at 36 wks and told me to prepare for an induction at 39 wks.  We are looking at a 9 - 9.5lb baby.

  • No- early u/s are much more accurate than later ones for due dates.  Later ones just means your baby might be measuring  a little bigger. They still need all of that time to develop their organs.

  • No, they will not change your EDD. If baby is still measuring large near the end, they may choose to induce you at 39 weeks, but that's about it. Some doctors may not do that at all, as ultrasound can be off by 2lbs at this point.

  • Nope, my baby measured 32 weeks at 28, and I go in for another growth scan at 26 weeks.
