We're moving to NY (Corning that is), and DH has ask me to go end of Jan to look at houses with a Realtor. To be productive I know that LO should stay, but I get major anxiety thinking about it. LO has never been away from us for more than a few hrs and never over night, he's still BFing, and I have a ton of 'what ifs' going through my head. Should I just take him and deal with the little man in between the house-hunting, or should I leave him?
The shortest flight I've found is 6 hrs so it'll be at least a 3 day trip.
Re: Take LO or not?
I would probably take him. Is there anyone you can bring along to watch him while you and DH look at houses? That would definitely cost more, but it would be the best of both worlds.
I'm not super familiar with Corning specifically, but I grew up in a central New York city not far away. It's a great area for kids!
Taking someone to watch him is a good option I hadn't thought of. Since we'd have to pay for an additional person, I'd have to see if we could afford it.
DH got frustrated last night talking about it, and said that I don't have to go and he'll choose a house. I was upset that he said that, but maybe it's an option. Would you let your spouse choose your home?
No way. It's something we both need input on.
Hey lady! If I were in your shoes, I would definitely want to take Tegan along and DH would be trying to get me to leave her with family. It's not that I don't trust my mom (or his) to take good care of Tegan, it's just that I'm not ready to leave her overnight, let alone, for several days. So, she'd, most likely, end up coming with us. It would make the house hunting more complicated, but I'd feel better having her with me.
If you can take someone with you, to help out, that's great, but I know that wouldn't be a feasible financial option for us. I also wouldn't want DH to pick out our house without me. We have very similar taste when it comes to what we want in a house and I know that he'd pick out something that we'd both like, but if there was 1-2 things that I didn't like, it'd be hard to not hold that against him, you know?
I have 4 wks to prepare myself and Nick, so we'll see how it goes. I like MIL, but being around her for 3 days will be too much for me.
My solution will be to build up a good enough BM stash for a bottle or 2 a day and he's fine with formula for the other feedings. I think I'll ask MIL to stay at our house so that LO will be more comfortable. I'll leave Wed afternoon and come back Fri evening to make it the shortest time possible.
